Originally bred as a hunting dog, this hound has an excellent sense of smell and is well suited for below groundwork and beating the bush for quarry. The Dachshund is bold, intelligent, and courageous to the point of rashness. They have become so popular over the years that they are now available in two sizes and three coats. Dachshunds 11 pounds and under at maturity are considered miniature, while the Standard Dachshund is usually between 16 and 32 pounds. The coat varieties are smooth, long and wirehair.

The Cane Corso is a large mastiff dog originating in Corsica. They are a very old breed, as dogs of this type have been used as property guards and large animal hunting dogs since the Roman Empire. The Cane Corso is a strong-minded functional guard dog that can be a protective companion, but is not for the first time dog owner and obedience training is strongly encouraged. The Cane Corso has been used to discourage thieves as well as bring down lions and bears for centuries which has created in them great strength as well as a sense of fearlessness. The Cane Corso weighs between 110 and 130 plus pounds and is seen in the colors of black, blue, fawn, chestnut, black-red, or any of these colors with brindling.

The Bullmastiff is a large dog created by English gamekeepers who needed to protect their land and stock from would-be poachers. Bullmastiffs were derived from breeding Mastiffs with Bulldogs, the end result was a formidable guard dog that is about 60% Mastiff and 40% Bulldog. They are a well-balanced animal, with great strength and endurance. They have a large skull, broad muzzle, keen expression, and a fair amount of wrinkle about the head. The Bullmastiff is a heavy boned breed, and weighs between 100 and 130 pounds. The coat should be short and dense, with acceptable colors being fawn, red or brindle with a black mask. A small amount of white is allowed on the chest.
